# Export Bear to Markdown

Alto Index writes every Bear note as Markdown in a folder per tag, with its dates, tags and a link back to Bear, and an index of every note. Free, no limit.

## What you get

- Each note's text as Bear keeps it, between its front matter and a link that opens it in Bear
- The front matter: its title, tags, `created` and `modified` dates, and pinned, archived and todos done when they apply
- A folder per tag, nested as your tags are; notes with no tag go to `_untagged`
- `index.md` lists every note under its first tag, newest first
