# Export Calendar to Markdown

Alto Index writes every Calendar event as a Markdown file, one for each day it happens, with its place, people and notes, kept in sync. 100 events free.

Export calendar events with descriptions and details.

## What you get

- One Markdown file per event, in a folder per calendar and day; a repeating event gets a file for each day it happens
- When and where, the link, its notes and its attendees, then a link that opens it in Calendar
- Each file starts with `start_date`, `end_date`, `all_day`, `location`, `organizer`, `attendees`, `status` and `recurrence`

## Where the files go

```
alto-index/calendar/Family/2026-06-05/Bike service.md
```

## What you choose

- Tick calendars, shown under their accounts
- The period: This Year, 2 Years (the default), 5 Years or All, and always the year ahead
- A new connection starts with the Scheduled Reminders calendars unticked

## Left out

- An event older than the period is not exported, and one already exported keeps its file
- Unticking a calendar removes its files

## Free and paid

Your first 100 events export and keep syncing free. Then one purchase unlocks Calendar: on its own, as one of any three apps, or with all of them. See [pricing](/pricing).

## With Claude

`/altoindex:calendar` in the [Claude plugin](/claude-plugin) browses a day's events, and `/altoindex:today` puts them in a daily briefing with everything else.
